Jamie Deacon is an American filmmaker and visual artist based in Los Angeles, California.
She has written and directed narratives, music videos and experimental films. Her first narrative film, < Way to Blue >, was featured at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival Court Métrage. Her second narrative, entitled < Grow >, is an adaptation of the classic children’s story < The Giving Tree > by Shel Silverstein. Her directorial work has been described as possessing a “European film style” by Director of Photography, Yash Khanna, in an article published in Yahoo! Finance. With a background in the fine arts, Deacon is able to adapt her keen eye of the visual across multiple platforms and considers film to be one of the most versatile mediums for artistic expression. She began making experimental film is her teens, drawing inspiration from such rule-bending visionaries as Fellini and Warhol. She interned with Jerry Bruckheimer and continued her studies at Otis College of Art and Design, San Francisco’s Academy of Art University and New York Film Academy, where she received her BA in Filmmaking. Since graduating, Deacon’s interest in production design has led her to become involved in several spatial design projects, giving her the opportunity to hone her skills in interior, architectural and landscape design.
